I can tell I'm feeling better because I'm craving certain foods today. I haven't really been hungry for a week so this is a good sign. I'm craving fish. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. A nice piece of salmon with lemon?? Yes please. I could die happy if I had salmon right now. Speaking of food, I thought my wife was going to kill me last night when I put a splash of ketchup on my daughter's plate so she could dip her potatoes in it. I didn't think she'd dip her chicken and broccoli as well.
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling
This is from The Jungle Book and has long been one of my favorite things ever. I remember being a little kid and seeing this cartoon and it scared me to death. It was a good scare though. It tells the story of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, a mongoose who keeps a family safe from a family of cobras. It details the epic battle between them and it is thrilling.

I've always enjoyed Kipling and this is no different. It's an exciting story, with definite good and evil and snakes.

I haven't taught this before but I think I will with my Freshmen this year. And if I do, I'm pretty sure I'd show the cartoon as well. It's kind of a kid's story but since it's old, it's not super easy to get through. Engagement-wise, I think it'd be a good fit. And if I really wanted the kids to get into it, I'd sing the songs to them. Because I have such a lovely voice.
