I've never really understood the whole Poe thing. I remember being in high school and reading The Cask of Amontillado and my reaction was mostly, "Meh." I like some of his poetry (Raven) but his stories seem a little overrated. Maybe just not my thing.
Story: 4 of 10
A guy buries another guy under floorboards, cops come to visit, the guy's heart is beating loudly, he thinks it's the dead guy's heart, he kinda freaks out.
Teachability: 6 of 10
I'm sure that many teachers can teach the hell out of this story. I'm not one of them. Oh sure there are lots of wonderful teachable literary devices in this story, but if the teacher just isn't really into a story, it shows. So I took the score of 10 for other teachers teaching this and my score of 2 and averaged it to get a 6. I'm gonna go plan the week now. I'll have more to say this week.
