10:00 -- Get out of bed and eat some cereal.
10:20 -- Daughter wakes up and wanders downstairs. I make her some cereal and she eats it.
10:30 -- Jump in shower while daughter gets dressed.
10:50 -- Get in car with daughter and drive to Portland to drop her off at Grandpa's house for the day. She usually spends one day a week with a grandparent or two.
11:45 -- Leave Grandpa's to head home alone.
12:20 -- Stop at Target because I may need something.
12:40 -- Leave Target empty-handed.
1:40 -- Stop for lunch at Los Patrillos, a place I have been meaning to try.
1:45 -- Eat enchiladas while reading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
2:30 -- Leave restaurant uninspired by the food but loving the book.
2:45 -- Get home and water newly planted patch of grass which I had forgotten to do this morning.
3:00 -- Spend time online looking at reading lists for 10th grade World Literature classes. Make plan to propose changing standard sophomore English classes to World Literature. Understand that it will probably never fly but make plan regardless.
3:45 -- Read more of my book while sitting outside on my patio. Drink lots of water. Still love book.
4:30 -- Watch episode of Goliath on Amazon Prime.
5:15 -- Call wife to say hello.
5:20 -- Take three books back to the public library and browse for more but again leave empty-handed.
5:50 -- Prepare adventure for tomorrow when daughter and I play Fairies and Falcons, similar to Dungeons and Dragons but suitable for a seven year old.
6:10 -- Call in and order pizza for wife to pick up on her way home from picking up daughter.
6:15 -- Clean kitchen, put away dishes, feed cats, take out garbage and recycling.
6:45 -- Get caught up on a week of emails.
6:55 -- Turn on television and watch Seattle Mariner baseball game.
7:25 -- Wife and daughter and pizza arrive!
7:26 -- Hug wife and daughter. Eat pizza. Turn off baseball game and watch New Girl on Netflix with family.
8:30 -- After watching a couple episodes, wife goes up to bed and I go outside to water grass patch again.
8:50 -- Watch more Mariner game while daughter plays games on the iPad.
9:00 -- Daughter gets in bathtub. Plays with bath toys and asks me about what we're going to do this weekend. My answer: "Lots of stuff."
9:10 -- Let kid play, turn on game again.
9:30 -- Write blog.
10:00 -- Get pajamas out for Frances to get ready for bed.
That's my day today. I did not contribute to the betterment of humanity but I did have a pretty nice time.
